I've started this blog in order to record some of my new horse adventures, so that my children can have a log of how the horses have progressed. My son Brayden is 2 years old and loves the horses. Everyday he wants to help feed, brush, and kiss the horses. Some times before he goes to bed he wants to go down and see the horses. Kaitlyn doesn't seem to care for them too much, she'll go out and pet them but that's about it and you can forget it if its cold or rainy. So as for me I'm a novice horse owner who has always wanted her own horses but never could have my own for what ever reason at the time. So now I've taken on a huge responsibilty with a mare named sassy, a 7 month old colt named stone and a baby to be born in march. I'm not really sure what I was thinking at the time I got them but I've fallen in love with both of them. Sassy is a 7 year old QH mare who is pregnant with her third baby and she seems to be a great mommy. The guy I bought her from said that she hasn't been ridden in almost 2 years but she was easy to ride. I'm not brave enough to saddle her up yet but brayden has sat on her back and I've led them around the pasture (with grandma holding brays hand of course) and she seems to like it. Brayden Loves it. But she has great ground manners and good confirmation.... Stone is my baby I love him so much already, he's polite, sweet and willing to learn. He's only 7 months old and he stands for the ferrier, leads and is starting to learn to give to pressure. I still don't trust him as far as i can throw him but when brayden comes in the pasture stone comes right up to him lowers his head and lets brayden kiss his nose. It's so cute....... I'm going to try to keep this blog up and post pictures, stories and progress and hopefully I can get some advice and ideas so let me know what you think cause I've found out that every horse person has their own way of doing things.
